Hey Mr. X !

  Griot X is an independent artist from Washington DC, by way of Lagos, Nigeria. As of January 2022, he is 23 years old and taking the art scene by storm! His intent is to make timeless music that inspires, elevates, and influences generations before and to come. He began his career with a debut EP “Flavors”, which infuses elements of soul, rap, and rock into a brand-new innovative sound. It explored topics ranging from social justice to economic disparity all the while providing an opportunity to jump around and get lit. He continued with merchandise roll outs to prepare for his 2nd EP “Griot Globe” which included features from many of his friends in Washington D.C. The positive reception from this tape encouraged Griot to explore new feats and test his sonic range. He proceeded with releasing “Soungz” which was his first stride into Jazz music. Following that he collaborated with VA Rap collaborative “GGO” to release another rap album. He finished 2021 with a roll out of a myriad of singles and yet another EP “Crank Spank” returning to his authentic Hood Pope street sound. 2022 is filled with an unprecedented number of sounds that hit the soul. The process of music making, and real life have matriculated Griot into a new-founded sense of self. He has also revitalized his love for the art of vibe blending & bending (Also known as DJ'ing). In 2022 he has DJ'd and MC'd two events (Video shoot of Kevin Exclusive's Single "Dough" & the 4th Installment of The Afro Soul Sounds Coalition. This year is dedicated to the fruition of his true self through music, production, videography, fashion, and other mediums of art and expression.
